Stay The Night

By. Knompie

A sound of the chatting application was notified. So, a phone placed on the headboard was grabbed to check who was still awake at midnight like this. But when Tsukishima saw Kuroo’s name on the screen, he quickly touched the notification banner to read full messages with a little faster heart-racing.

Kuroo Tetsurou

K:  Birthday greetings Tsukki! You finally turned 25 this year right, honey? Wish you happiness in everyday life and please take care!

K: This year I’ve got some errands in Miyagi on your birthday. Shall we meet tonight?

K: Also, I’ve got something special for you!

K: [Sent you a photo]

When he saw what his boyfriend had sent, he almost wheezed. It was a simple card template which included a text that written ‘Grant a wish from Kuroo’. The blonde guy replied with an acceptance of the appointment without hesitation before locked the screen off, and put it back in place. It was then that he found himself smiling widely with happiness.

How not to smile? This year he not only received the blessing from his lover as the first person on his birthday, but he also got a chance to spend the time with Kuroo as well.

Tsukishima wasn’t interested about his birthday after he had been going through the stage of working lifetime. He spent most of his spare time dallying in his room, sometimes gifting himself with a five-stars michelin dinner at a luxurious restaurant or just waited for a call from family.

But this year is going to be different. September 27th seems to make sense when it comes to spending time with Kuroo.

He knew that he was very excited. No reason to lie to himself when it was his own heart that whispered to him like that. Tsukishima had to put in a lot of effort to sleep while he was still thinking about meeting his senior lover. He also had to wait so patiently for the after-work time to go back to his room, change his clothes, and leave for an appointment.

It was really hard to calm this stirred heart when it was all about Kuroo.

* * *

Swear..

Swear to god that Tsukishima arrived before the meeting time about an hour because he couldn’t wait any longer. But it turned out he found a spiky black-haired guy had already sat there, in the bar which was the place of an appointment tonight.

“You came so early”

That was the greeting from the glasses guy when he walked over and dropped his figure at the table opposite to his lover, who handed to cheek, looked at him with an amused smile. In front of Kuroo there’s a liquor that had not much been sipped. So the younger guessed that he might have not shown up here that long before his arrival.

“So do you.” he responded with a lively tone of voice. “Then you must miss me as much as I miss you, right?”

The listener’s lips were drawn slightly with shyness when he was asked that teasing question. The amber-colored eyes behind the clear lenses couldn’t conceal any of his feelings. Yet, to be honest, confessing it out straightly wasn’t something Tsukishima was good at. “I’m not gonna tell you.”

And that was not that hard to make Kuroo snort. This kind of eased and comforted atmosphere was rarely found in a career. It wonderfully soothed an exhausted heart that somehow lost shards of energetic self along the way of growth. Apparently just because seeing his own lover that is usually on the other side of distance here and letting the shadow of him reflected in the eyes that consistently yearned for togetherness.

They were both in the process of trying their best for the future of their own relationship.

Miyagi boy chose to order ‘Rainbow shots’ as usual. He always did that when he couldn’t figure out what he prefered since his purpose tonight was only to meet the person in front of him.

It is a charming cocktail with 7-8 shot glasses arranged in rainbow shade. It was a reasonable price and got drunk very quickly since their ABV in the last several shots from the shaker were quite high. Which didn't cause a drinker to spend much money like those that got less ABV.

Actually Tsukishima didn’t intend to get drunk but since this was his familiar menu so whatever.

Their conversation filled with nostalgia, full of warmth that was told by the eyes which examined the boyfriend's figure on the opposite seat randomly as if there’s any changes from the last time, and their hands reached out to tease each other while talking about today’s miscellaneous stuff. Those lover’s material were as if a river flowed through every room of the heart to revive the wither soul once again.

On the other hand, it made Tsukishima realize that the black-haired guy came to this city for his calling only a night.

Tomorrow Kuroo was going to depart back to Tokyo.

“Want some more drinks?” The older asked when the last color of liquor was gone from the shot glass. “Tonight it’s on me”

“Hmm?” The amber-colored eyes that glanced upon Kuroo’s face were softened by the alcohol. “Seriously? I don’t remember you told this before”

“Of course. Today is my boy’s special day in case you forgot.” He cracked a tender smile and then continued with the slightly sad tone of voice. “Ah.. by the way, I have to leave here in a moment”

“Eh?” Tsukishima titled his head a little. Doubt appeared obviously on his face “Why are you in a hurry all of sudden?”

“Duty calls” he started to say carefully when he saw his lover getting on the verge of tears. “My colleague is waiting for me to go back to work together at the hotel. I told him before we came to Miyagi that I will excuse myself a little while to see you.”

That truth was as if a lightning struck in the middle of a little heart, allowing the electricity to flow through the sat still body.

A severe feeling of sadness began to dash over the listener. Even Kuroo could clearly see it from the down-low blonde eyebrow’s tail that looked like a lonely cat and the dazzling water droplets on the edge of those yellow eyes. Normally, Tsukishima wasn’t a ‘straightly express an emotion’ type of person like this. He rarely showed fragile and insecure side in front of people. Logical reason before personal emotion is what he always kept in mind. It could be inferred that his inferiority was perfectly sealed.

After all, alcohol always messed it up.

We just met each other. I.. I really want to extend this moment a little longer.

The howling sound of deep desire only echoed in the silence of prayer’s mind. And suddenly Tsukishima wasn’t sure if his red face which was caused by the alcohol or the watery eyes from the disappointment, which one is hotter?

“Kuroo-san”

A soft hand slowly moved back, hid in the pocket of the trousers for a moment before pulling out something.

It was something that made Kuroo, who still smiled with misery due to the ‘I don’t want to leave here too soon either’ emotion same as his beloved, started to randomly guess what Tsukishima would say next after saw it.

It’s Tsukishima’s mobile phone.

“If possible..”

“...”

“Could you please stay the night?”

Then the younger asked with a low tone that sounded like a whisper, turned the screen toward him, showed something that made him chortled with satisfaction instantly.

Grant a wish from Kuroo card.

“This is so you, Tsukki” he said with a wider smile than before. “You make me face a harder situation, you know that?”

“Is.. that so?” And just as Tsukishima was about to break off the conversation.. “Then please just forget about it—”

“But no problem.” Kuroo nodded his head lightly, held his beloved desire with pleasure “As you wish, honey”

It was as if many butterflies were dancing in Miyagi boy's chest. Like various varieties of flowers in a garden blooming all at once. The gloomy mood changed into a grin filled with happiness. A wish that sounded so self-centered was granted by the kindness of his lover as promised.

“Really?” An image of an eager kitten appeared before Kuroo. The sparkle of an expectation in those moonlighted eyes twinkled brightly.

“Yep” The older guy insisted firmly once more. “After I’m done negotiating with my colleague, Shall we go to your place?”

“Okay”

So when Kuroo finished a phone call with his co-worker, of course he was reprimanded a lot before getting permission later on, he paid for all of tonight’s drinks and they returned to his lover’s room. Along the way, he needed to embrace Tsukishima’s shoulder to prevent him from falling because of unconsciousness as well as to show the other people on the street who were fascinated by the charm of his boyfriend that he was the owner.

Tsukishima is his. Only him that had the rights to crave for.

“So Happy birthday again Tsukki—”

Kuroo repeated the blessing once they arrived. But the room’s owner didn’t wait any longer after they were alone together at last.

Those fine hands grabbed his shirt’s collar, pulled him closer harshly, pressed soft lips against his, told him by the tongue that trespassed into his mouth how much he longed for his touch, and filled a space with the intimacy passion that has been lost after all this time.

So how could a man with the same overwhelming nostalgia like Kuroo would not answer Tsukishima's prayer?

His palm moved up to hold his beloved’s face. Made the younger receive his utter devour kiss. Infiltrated into the breathing rhythm of his love until it was distorted by his fantasy. Replied to Tsukishima lingeringly that the boy was the only one he always yearned for.

The two fell on the bed ready for their never-ending love. Two pairs of different colored eyes met as Kuroo withdrew his lips. There were many unspoken thoughts in the eyes and the smell of drunkenness. Those persuaded the night to continue with deeply and fondly affectionate. Connected all the demanding feelings with their bodies and souls.

What Tsukishima wanted for his birthday was nothing more than spending time with his loved one.

And because of the workplace, which was located in a different province, Kuroo wanted to make this wonderful day memorable. So both of them would not regret it after the morning came and they had to be distanced once again.

Distanced.. so their unknown journey that awaited them ahead would change ‘stay the night’ to ‘stay every night’

Happy birthday, My dearest Tsukki.
